Term 1 Reports/Communication of Learning & Online reading programs

Hello,
We hope everyone is doing well.

Report Card Envelopes:
On Friday, February 18th, a term 1 communication of learning/report card was sent home with your child.
-This report card stays at home.
-Please sign the front of the envelope under TERM 1 – Parent/Guardian Signature.
-Please return the empty, signed envelope back to school with your child asap.
*We reuse the envelopes for the final (term 2) communication of learning.
**If you want to discuss the report with Mrs. Tessier then check the bottom box “I would like to discuss the report/communication. Please contact me” and return that in your child’s envelope. Otherwise, the last page is OPTIONAL and you only need to sign and return the envelope.

Thank you to the families who have already returned their signed envelopes.

As the students have finished some of their work from the first term (math duotangs and so forth), you may see it come home and it can stay at home. Please feel free to review and discuss the work with your child.

Raz-Kids/Fast Phonics – online reading/language programs:
These programs replace our book in a bag, so Mrs. Tessier is still checking Raz-Kids every week, as well as Fast Phonics on a daily basis.
Please make sure you spend at least 10-15 minutes once a week with your child, so s/he is reading or listening to at least 2-4 books or completing a level of Fast Phonics at home. It isn’t a lot of time, but it is extremely beneficial.
*The school has paid for your child’s membership in both of these programs until the end of the school year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know via Seesaw Message.

Grade One students also have their weekly reading passage sent home each Tuesday and it needs to be returned on Friday or the following Monday at the lastest. Please practice reading the passage Tues-Thursday until they get perfect.

Valentine’s Day Cards

Valentine’s Day Party and Cards:
-We will be doing a card exchange on Feb. 14, please bring a card for each child.

-Please have your child sign cards with his/her name.
-Encourage your child to print his/her name, in the “from” section, on all the cards, you may want to start now and do a few each night.
–Grade 1 students can address the cards to individual students or to: “my friend”, but please use rubber bands to group the Valentine cards into the following 3 groups if they have names:
Red SK: Ariel, Cain, Harry, Theo, Enrich.
Blue SK: Harrison, Nicholas, Haley, Addy, Aiden
Grade 1 students: Beckham, Behram, Lily, Natasha, Parker, Vera, Charlotte, Praneel, Juliana, Wyatt.

-We leave the treats for parents to go through at home and don’t allow students to open them at school.

-You are also welcome to send in individually packaged treats for each child and/or commercially produced with original container labelled “nut free” treats (i.e. cupcake in marked package – and they don’t then have to be individually packaged) and/or healthy treats that are unpackaged, such as fruit tray/veggie tray/cheese and crackers and so forth.

If your child had books that were not returned from a previous year, a note was put in Seesaw to let you know which book is missing and the replacement cost, in case you are unable to find it.
